Find your direction in CSE.

A practical career guide for CSE students.

CSE-Pothik helps students—from freshers to final year—understand the landscape, try real work, avoid common mistakes and take a meaningful next step in the AI era.

Why this exists

The difficult part is the gap between admission and direction.

CSE often begins with a bright promise: a respected career, strong earning potential and work that can cross borders. Admission answers “What will I study?” It does not automatically answer “What kind of work could suit me, and what should I practise now?”

Without useful orientation, semesters can dissolve into trendy stacks, disconnected tutorials and borrowed plans. Near graduation the question becomes urgent: “Where do I start?” Students understandably turn to social-media groups for help. Software engineering, QA, competitive programming and research are meaningful options—but they are not the whole landscape, and a job title rarely explains the real work.

That moment is not proof that the career is over. It is a signal to stop collecting noise and choose one next step that produces evidence. A clear map early can prevent drift; the same map later can turn panic into a practical recovery.

  1. AttractionPopularity, earning potential and opportunities abroad.
  2. Orientation gapThe breadth of the field and its real work stay unclear.
  3. The urgent searchGraduation approaches; the question becomes, “What should I learn now?”
  4. A practical recoveryStop the noise, understand one route and build a small piece of evidence.

Purpose

Give students the career orientation many wish they had in their first CSE semester—and a calm route back when they discover it later.

Goal

Do more than list careers: reveal the work behind the titles, help students test a possible fit through small experiments, build durable foundations and choose a practical next step for their goal.

Whether a student uses it independently or an educator uses it during orientation, the aim is the same: make one useful next step visible before confusion compounds.

What this is

Orientation publication + practical mentor

Career families, detailed guides, comparisons, experiments, roadmaps, AI exposure and recovery routes—static, free and usable without an account.

What this is not

Not an LMS, job board or prediction machine

There are no certificates, job promises, personality scores, AI-proof claims, progress dashboards or paid-learning funnels.

Inspiration & collaboration

Human-led, inspired by community projects and built with AI assistance. Each contribution has a different role.

Principles, never copied content

The role/skill navigation of roadmap.sh, focused preparation of Architect Prep, build-centred roadmaps of Amirul Islam and browser-based study hub of Nabid in Motion offered different kinds of conceptual inspiration. CSE-Pothik's visual system, copy, roadmaps and mentoring model are original.

  • roadmap.sh

Inspired the idea of structured career paths and role- and skill-based learning navigation.

  • Architect Prep

Inspired focused, topic-oriented technical preparation and navigation.

  • Amirul Islam

Inspired staged, build-centred learning roadmaps that connect technical depth with practical engineering evidence.

  • Nabid in Motion

Inspired a structured, browser-based study-hub experience that connects guided learning, practice, projects and private local progress.
